Mario Lattes

Mario Lattes
(Italian version here, with a different image). Yesterday I've seen an interesting art exhibition here in Mondovì: "I teatrini di via Calandra" (The Little Theathers of Calandra Road) in the Academia Montis Regalis, in front of the city Cathedral. The painter is the torinese Mario Lattes (1923-2001), who had specialized himself in realizing and painting puppet for the rich puppet theather tradition on Turin. His works are very inquieting as we can see from the example above. Mario Lattes' greatfather was the founder of Lattes Editions, in 1893; in 1953 Mario Lattes founded the journal "Galleria d'arti e lettere", working as painter and writer. He wrote five romances and a collection of short stories, "Le notti nere" (1960), "the black nights". So Lattes is a perfect part of Turin as esoterical capital of the world.
